Great news for those of us who believe Government is a man-made institution, who’s only real reason for existence is to helps us and protect us, and should never kill any human beings it can avoid.
Washington Governor, Democrat Jay Inslee, will suspend the state’s use of the death penalty. In a statement that is yet to be released, Inslee will say that he believes the death penalty to be unjust because it is applied inconsistently and unequally. The Governor has previously said that he hopes his actions will allow Washington to join, “a growing national conversation about capital punishment”.
At a press conference today, Inslee said he will grant a reprieve to anyone who receives the Ultimate Punishment for the duration of his time in office, if the practice is not outlawed first. The reprieve does not serve as a pardon, nor is it a commutation of the sentence, but rather an indefinite hold. “Equal justice under the law is the state’s primary responsibility,” Inslee said in an statement to the AP. “And in death penalty cases, I’m not convinced equal justice is being served.
